Ok, Lulu Guinness, what springs to mind? I would have to go with unbelievably creative and intriguing, accessory designer. Does that sum it up? I think you would have to agree, that to fully understand the term 'intriguing' when associated with Lulu Guinness, you have to have a great understanding of her endearing work.

I Fell in Love at House of Hackney

I am actually quite surprised with myself that I haven't blogged about this sooner, but here it is, I am showing my praise and complete adoration for House of Hackney. When you think of House of Hackney your first instinct is most likely to relate to their beautiful patterns and homeware. House of Hackney feature some exquisite patterns and fabrics taking form on furniture and wallpaper, to name a few, my favourite pattern currently being the Dalston Rose, which leads me to the main reason I have such an infatutation with the company.

A few months ago, I came across the Dalston Rose clothing collection by House of Hackney. It was love at first sight. There was just so much beauty in the clothing, from the delicate pattern, featured in different colours and an ombre effect (stunning), to all the different garments it took hold of. But there was one particular item that literally made my heart race!!! The 'Dalston Rose Dungaree Shorts' were a beauty like no other, made from silk viscose velvet, and featuring the Dalston Rose pattern in a cream and navy ombre, what could there be not to love!? It's fair to say this particular garment is a work of art. This was the moment I truely fell in love with House of Hackney. Vintage Lovin' at Urban Renewal

Urban Outfitters is my ultimate fave high street shop.. Disagree? I'm not sure we can be friends. Anyway, aside from their absolutely gorgey clothes and brands within such as 'Sparkle and Fade' and 'Staring at Stars' they also have their Urban Renewal collection. Urban Renewal is a collection of vintage clothing and fabrics which has been reconstructed and edited to produce even more fab garments. Urban Renewal's best known for their hot to trot Levi cut-off shorts and fab vintage shirts, it definitely produces vintage at its best. My latest purchase from Urban Renewal was a complete beauty! Last week I ordered a polyester, patterned, shirt dress and I couldn't be happier with it! The fabric drapes over the skin without clinging to any unwanted areas, what more could you want? And its not like those shirt 'dresses' where you can't bend over without a bum cheek popping out to say hello, this is actually a dress with dignity! Some of my other favourites they currently have in stock are their tartan skirts (got to honour my Scottish heritage), and 'vintage ethnic' dresses. Despite this completely random outburst of March snow, the sun is finally putting his hat on and coming out to play! Nobody suits the screwed up eye face so it is indeed time to get a pair of sunnies!! Ok, so I am a complete vintage and old school lover, (definitely born in the wrong decade - 80s fanatic) and so I'm always looking out for a vintage steal or some kind of 20th century trend repeat. Anyway, with regards to sunglasses last year was all about the aviator, however Topshop have brought out some ace, retro looking sunnies! - SUNGLASS CRUSH <3 So, I bought a pair of these beauties the other week and I'm wearing them whenever I even catch a glimpse of the sun! Suit Up at Vanessa Bruno

I currently have a complete infatuation with France and everything French! This is all really down to my complete and utter adoration for the language, the country and furthermore the fashion, or 'la mode'! So, the other day I was having a wee look at Vanessa Bruno, a Parisian fashion designer (if you're not familiar with her work you really need to sort yourself out!) and I decided to have a little study sesh of her A/W 13 collection. It's fair to say I love masculine dress for women so I was delighted when her first model strutted out on the catwalk in a pin stripe trouser suit! The collection initiates with several different masculine styles all consisting of regular and oversized suit jackets (love that extra size), tapered and wide leg trousers and shirts and blouses, most of which featuring a stripe down the centre, almost giving the illusion of a slim line tie. The collection progresses into a more feminine look featuring skirts and dresses most of which boasting great attention to detail with circular cuts on hems and sequin embellishment. However, most of these styles are teamed with an oversize suit jacket or alternatively a heavier coat still taking masculine form, to contrast the two looks. - C'est super! Vanessa Bruno portrays a very simple yet elegant colour scheme, the main focus being on black, white and grey, further emphasizing the beauty of this collection with regards to simplicity. Towards the end of the collection, the garments begin to portray elements of the 1920s with aspects appearing to be influenced by the flapper era. This is shown through dropped hemlines and shift dresses, however this is all twisted into modern day fashion, in effect creating a fab vintage/modern collaboration. And what's more? Miss Cara Delevingne ends the show in a stunning, sequin embellished, white shift dress! ALL HAIL QUEEN DELEVINGNE.

Shape Shifting at Galliano

John Galliano is undoubtedly one of fashion's most influencial designers with regards to shape and cut. In the 1990s he rediscovered and exploited the 'bias cut' after its presence had faded in the fashion industry after its strong standing in the 1920s. I always find Galliano's fashion mesmerizing to watch, his clothes create movement and beautiful illusions before your eyes, a show in themselves. Galliano's Spring/Summer 13 is no exception to this statement with his collections boasting stunning cuts in skirts and fabric, exaggerated hats (I'm a sucker for a hat), free flowing fabrics and overlays, and so many fabric folds!! And what's more? The collection ranges in colour, contrasting from some classic black and white to beautiful pastels... Summer never looked so gorgeous!

Take It To The Streets

Ok, so truth is fashion has to start somewhere. Last semester at Uni I learnt all about this with regards to the 'trickle up' theory, where fashion trends and styles initiate on the streets and 'trickle up' into the industry and designers, and opposing this, the 'trickle down' theory, where trends and styles are established by designers and industry and then 'trickle down' onto the high street and street style. Anyway, the other day I came across a great wee website made by photographer Wayne Tippetts where he posts photos of different women, men and celebrities round the world featuring different street trends and styles. It's a great wee website if you're looking for some style inspiration or just if you're wanting some fashion therapy! So yea worth a look, the variety in style is fab, definitely something for everyone!

Geek Ain't So Chic

Ok this is a WELL OVERDUE post but better late than never. I really feel the need to express my anger towards GEEK slogan t-shirts and all the forth-coming one's such as DWEEB. I'll be honest when Topshop brought out their first dark green one I really quite fancied it and bought it, seeing as not every single girl on the highstreet was wearing it. However, as soon as the Geek and 'totally hipster' phenomenon took over the shops I quickly shoved the tee to the back of my wardrobe never to be seen again. I don't think it would make me so angry if they had stuck with say two t-shirt designs in the original colours, navy and dark green, however now that they have introduced different slogans and styles such as CROPPED!? its fair to say I can't deal! So yea, please Topshop, I love you, but please stick to the basic tee and get rid of the Geek ones. Thankyou :)

Granddad's Wardrobe

Vintage, vintage, vintage.. You gotta love a piece of it. Lately I've developed quite the obsession for vintage clothing and ever since I visited the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham last year, where I went vintage clothing shopping crazy and spent all my student loan and overdraft, I have been on the hunt for some other cheeky buys! Ok so everyone knows asos marketplace either has those wee beauties of vintage garments that have made it to present day, or those items of clothing which really should have just stayed in that decade! Well, recently I've had a slight infatuation with 'The Vintage Scene' on asos marketplace. They stock a lot of sports shirts and whatnot which really don't do it for me, however they do possess some great wee steals of shirts and jumpers. I've actually just ordered a wee silk shirt number for a bargain of 14 quid! So excited for its arrival and its smell. Is it just me or does anyone else love the smell of vintage clothing? Mmmmmm, old. Just like steppin' out of Granddad's Wardrobe!

Three Floor Fashion

If you have not already discovered Three Floor Fashion you seriously need to check it out. I first came across the brand just over a year ago when their 'Dark horse black faux leather quilted shorts' were featured in Vogue. I fell in love instantly and ordered them, however when I got them its fair to say I definitely had too much of a booty to pull them off and didn't have the willpower to order a bigger size so I sent them back! Sob! However, I keep up to date with their website on a regular basis and they have some absolute beauties in stock! Their collections range from versatile and elegant to some rather eccentric pieces! SO MUCH LOVE. Oh so Vogue

Ok I can assume most of you will agree Vogue is the ultimate fashion bible. Last year I got the 'In Vogue' book which portrays Vogue's up most beauty with an endless collection of the magazines illustrations from its lifespan. Upon reading this I found an image of the very first Vogue cover, dated 17th December 1892. This image, designed by Harry McVickar remained the cover of the magazine until 1906. The cover in itself is stunning, with such intricate detail, however the contrast with the covers that grace today's issues of vogue is unreal! Furthermore, I also got 'Unseen Vogue, The Secret History of A Fashion Photogorapher' for Christmas last year, which exploits all the images that never quite made it to the magazine over the years. I highly recommend having a look at both these books if you're a sucker for illustrations and photography like myself, definitely worth the look!

I left my heart in Tokyo..

Just a wee snap from last Easter of the cherry blossom trees in Tokyo. Cherry blossom trees bloom once a year and when they do they cover Tokyo in a delicate pink blanket of petals.. Beau-ti-ful! Missing Japan loads, fair to say I'm ready to get my chopsticks out again! Bring on Summer!

Ok so right now I am absolutely loving Black Score's t-shirts. I have five days till my student loan comes through then I am all over this. Seriously need a Queen Delevingne tee or a Show Me the Bunny tee in my life! Then again, I may just need to get both. Overdraft who? Gah ok so here goes, first post! Basically I'm a fashion management student/part time partier/part time shopper. I spend more money than I have and I am completely obsessed with clothes. Starting a blog to share my general love for fashion and basically just to share all the other weird things that come along with it. Oh and I also have an unhealthy obsession with Alexander McQueen despite being unable to afford anything. And I mean it when I say unhealthy. That's all for now, stay tuned.
